Marital status: Married
Occupation: Critical Situation Manager, IBM
Comment: Hello Parkettes! It is such a privilege to be a part of this special group. As a high school girl, having had the opportunity to be a Parkette and a Viking Cheerleader was the thrill of a lifetime. Back in the 70's, girls athletics was not a major focus in schools. Being a Parkette and Viking Cheerleader provided activity that kept us fit, gave us goals to work for and discipline to achieve our goals. Additionally, we learned to work together as a team. These are lessons that I have never stopped using as I have gone through life.

Comment: What did Parkettes give me? What did I learn from Fran Libby?  Clearly, it is impossible to discuss this in a paragraph or two. I can say the most treasured and honored values of my life were rooted in my Parkette experience.  I learned the power of integrity and the importance of taking responsibility for myself. I saw the value of being reliable-from both sides. I had the experience of being a part of an interdependent group; we had to count on one another, we knew it, and we honored it. I came to understand the meaning of commitment and loyalty. And perhaps, most importantly, I felt the joy of true friendship. My closest and most cherished relationships today were born of my Parkette experience.

The lessons learned, the friendships gained and the opportunities presented to us as Parkettes were so life enhancing, that the idea of these experiences being denied to future generations was unthinkable. This is why I was grateful for and honored by the opportunity to join with Faith Kiperstein Schway in revitalizing the Parkettes at St. Louis Park High School. We are proud to say that after a 28 year absence, the Parkettes are again a part of our high school. It seems fitting this time honored organization should reemerge the yeair in which Fran Libby posthumously receives her Lifetime Achievement Award and is inducted into the St. Louis Park Athletic Hall of Fame. It is our plan for the "new" Parkettes to perform one of Mrs. Libby's original routines at the banquet on September 14, 2017. I can't begin to give back all that I received from my Parkette experience-but this is a start.

I am unable to source the credit for the following quotes, but I want to end with these thoughts.

"The older we get,the more we need people who knew us when we were young."

"Resent not growing old, many are denied the privilege."
