Sixty Plus years since we graduated!
Please create or update your biography.

Tell classmates about yourself! Click on "Add Your Profile" and fill out the form so that we have up-to-date contact information. You may also wish to add a short bio about what you've been up to the last 50 years. It's a great way to "reacquaint" ourselves with one another.  Please note that there is a limit of 220 words - about 22 lines.

It's recommended that you not share upcoming vacation dates, day & month of your birth, financial information and other sensitive information on the internet.

Important: Your contact information will not be posted on the site (however, others will be able to send you an email if you include your email address in the setup information of your profile).

Some ideas when writing: Did you attend college/where? What do/did you do for a living? What kinds of things do you like to do for fun? Have you done any traveling? Any other thoughts/memories would be great too.

Don't forget to add a recent picture (can be individual, with significant other, family, etc.)! We will upload your yearbook picture for the "then" picture, but if you would prefer to use an alternative picture, you may do so as well. Just click "Edit Entry."

"Reflections"

Our paths began as a blank page to be written on by experience. Our parents and friends escorted us down the path that curved and rose and fell shaping the person we are today. Like the proverbial moss we gathered acquaintances and life longfriends to traveldown our mutual paths. Each footway had epiphanous moments perhaps changing our path.
A pivotal event in our lives was graduation from our twelve years of education - from there we looked toward the future with hopes and dreams. Within this set of reflections are some of examples of how these dreams manifested themselves into fruition. Stories, memories, education, family, activism, etc. all of that brought us to here pondering is that all there is?

Retired Over the road truck driver

Divorced-2 grown children

Joined the Marines from 1961-1966. My major was blowing up things—what a blast.

Spent a lot of time in San Diego area. Rented house on the beach on Mission Beach. There was a boardwalk in front of the house to the ocean. Returned to Minneapolis in 1966. Attended Metropolitan Junior College.. Some of the instructors, I had attended high school with.. I met my former wife at college. After that I went to work for Glenwood Inglewood. Later I worked for Red Owl Food Stores in Hopkins. My next job was with The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. I was an assistant curator with the mobile art galleries. Enjoyed my job as I lectured to all grades from kindergarten through college.

I lectured American Indian art, Ancient Chinese art, and American artist of the 20th century. Decided to change career so I could better provide for my family. My next career was over the road driver for both truck and bus companies.

My hobbies include camping and motorcycling. I belong to Abate of Illinois, American Motorcycle Association, and Riders Club of America. My current ride is a 1999 Valkery, which I have put 55,000 miles on.

Comment: They say "Time flies when you're having fun". 50 years in a blink...guess I've had a blast.

After graduating from the U of M in 1964 I began a career in sales and mktg, the last 28 years in the printing industry. My wife Toni and I were married in 1968 do have 4 children but more likely 5 by reunion time. (We have no grandchildren. Spiteful kids!) Our first daughter (and only one married) arrived at 10 mo. from Korea. Our second daughter is home-made and joined the family 2 months later. Several years later our son, also from Korea, came at age 5. He could dress himself and pee straight...a requirement. We were foster parents a few times and one little girl about 9 came for a year and returned about 3 yrs later. We adopted her as a teenager. In 2004, two years after I retired, somehow, little 6'1" Ben...also Korean...almost 17...arrived as a forster son. (Further proof that brain cells die as we age.) He has done well and will graduate from the U of M this summer and the entire family is in favor of an adult adoption. We also have had great experiences with 4 foreign exchange students. Two from Italy have resulted in several trips there.

My volunteer efforts have, naturaly I guess, been directed towards kids issues, adoption, foster care and in 1980 helped found a non-profit Minnesota Adoption Resource Network which focuses on Minnesota's state wards. You may have seen "Thursday's Child" on channel 5 or the Waiting Children in the Star.

MARN also does parent recruitment, training, and manages the state's Waiting Children website.

The picture was taken in Norway as we waited for the Flam Line to continue our northward journey toward the Arctic Circle and Forslandia.

We have been blessed, busy and happy. Every year has been fun. See you in September.

After graduation I spent 2 yr @ NW Electronics institute. I married my high school sweet heart, Dee from Robbinsdale in 1962.  Worked for Control Data for 2 yr & then went to work for my Dad & Uncle at Gartner Refrigeration.  Electronic controls were entering the industrial refrigeration industry so I found a niche.

In 1971 I became the service mgr, then in 1979 my Dad & Uncle passed away, at which time I became a partner in the business w/ my cousin.  I sold my share of the business to my cousin & retired in Oct 2008.

Dee & I love classic cars & have a “63 Ford T-Bird convertible, & a “97 T-Bird . We belong to the Midwest T-Bird club in the Twin City area.

We have 3 children, Kim, Barry & Chad. Kim has given us 3 grandchildren, 1 girl, then twins a boy & girl .

Dee & I love NASCAR races,  attend Brick Yard 400 @ Indianapolis & Daytona 500 in Florida. We also love to travel & leave MN in the winter for 1-2 months.

Comment: Starting in the fall of 1960, I attended Gustavus College for 2 years.  I transferred to the U of M and graduated in 1964 (BA in sociology/psychology).  I was already married and pregnant so my original plan to go to graduate school to become a Social Worker went by the wayside.  We had 3 children (2 girls and 1 boy) in 3 years.  I had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for many years.

Tragedy struck a few times.  My first husband and I divorced.  My daughter Debbie committed suicide in 1986.  My daughter Cheryl was killed in an auto accident in 1996.  My current husband Richard was diagnosed with cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma) in 2006.

However, we have also been very blessed.  Richard and I have 3 children.  My son Mike (Shari) lives in Rochester, MN with his family where he is a professor (earned a PHD at U of M) in Family Studies.  My 2 stepsons live in New York...both still single and fancy free.  We are crazy about our 5 grandchildren (3 girls through Mike .....and a girl and boy through Cheryl) ages 2-17.  And Richard's cancer has been in remission.

In 2002, Richard and sold our townhouse in Eden Prairie and our cabin in WI and moved to Sun City Summerlin, a retirement community in Las Vegas.  I retired in 2007 after working for 18 years in the mortgage industry with Wells Fargo and Citicorp.  Richard is still working as a pai gow dealer at the Stratosphere.  We have a good life and many friends here.  Bridge is still my passion but I also play golf, tennis, mah jongg and belong to a book club (love to read).  Yoga classes are 3 mornings a week.  We have also done some traveling abroad but 3-4 times a year we return to MN to visit family and friends.

Hope to see you all at the reunion.

Comment: It is hard to condense 50 years into a few lines but basically my life has been good – interesting to me at least and mostly fun. After high school and graduating from the U of M in 1964 I taught in Seattle briefly, married and had 4 kids in less than 3 years. When they were all in college I got a job with the National Park Service as a fossil preparator, and for 10 years lived on my own – working in wonderful parks – until I met Mel, the love of my life. This Colorado cowboy and I married in 1998. We have traveled to many parts of the world besides visiting our nine kids and 17 grandchildren who are scattered all across the country. Summers we spend at the Colorado cabin in the mountains and at the Washington beach where we meet up with my kids. This year we bought a small patio home in Mesa, Arizona near Mel's brother and are loving a snow-free winter. It has been great to stay in touch with 'the girls' over the years. I am looking forward to our RHS 50th reunion and seeing so many friends.

Comment: Graduated fron the Uof M 1965.  Sold medical equipment for two years while I got my pilots license.  Started a career as a general aviation used aircraft dealer in 1967, my own company in 1973 having purchased, sold and flown 1650 airplanes of 300 different makes and models since then. I am still at it in 2021 but now as hobby business.  The 12,000 hours as a pilot picking up and delivering airplanes has placed me in or over just about everywhere in the United States.  I would do it all over again if I had the chance and the stories I could tell.

I have been married to my wife May since 1975. She is a retired supervisor of logistics at Proctor & Gamblel. We have  two successful adult daughters one a scientist for NOAA the other an independant marketing consultant for major event centers and venues here in Dayton, Ohio where we have lived fifty years.

Most of my hobbies other then skiing or hiking involve something with a wheel under it.

Comment: Graduated 1964 from Colorado State University in home economics education/nutrition.After four years teaching in  Halifax,Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia then evenings in Champaign-Urbana we ended up in State College, Pennsylvania where we remained for the next thirty years. I reluctantly  retired in 2003 from a position I really enjoyed at Penn State University, senior research technician in electron microscopy in the Life Sciences Consortium.

We are now liviing in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. (My husband is Canadian) We have three children, two daughters(one grandchild) in Colorado and a son in Pennsylvania (five grandchildren).

We have been fortunate to enjoy hiking and cross country skiing with our daughters in Colorado  and with all three children in the Canadian Rockies. They with their spouses and children are a great group.

We were married in 1966 and moved to Modesto, CA. in 1975.  We have a married son in Washington, D.C. and a married daughter with 2 granddaughters who live next door. Yea!

Jane is a hospital pharmacist and Byron recently retired from the practice of law.

We have traveled extensively and enjoy bicycling and golf.

We still have friends and family in the Minneapolis area so visit frequently. The Vikings and Twins still remain our favorite teams.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
