Henrietta Richie Hawes, 58 of Athens, passed away December 25, 2019.



She leaves five children, Tiffany Harris, Keisha, Santonio, Alicia and Malinda Hawes; two brothers, Charles (Deborah) Richie and Julius Richie; two grandchildren, Ayden and Acorrie; aunts, Teresa Pittman, Lillian Ward, Brucie Cleveland and Luriena Goodine; uncles Edward Pittman and Styles Richie.

Beauler Veanner rucker was born in Stephens County. She departed this life in the Tennessee Hospital following a heart attack. Beauler is the granddaughter of William Richie.  She was a native of Dekalb County, Ga but lived a good number of years in Gwinnett County, GA. She was a member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church.  Beauler was married to Thealer Rucker.

Howard Richie was born in Toccoa, Georgia (Stephen County) to the late Styles and Almetta Drake Richie, and was the fourth born of eleven children.  He joined Cleveland CME Church in Toccoa, Georgia at an early age and loved singing gospel with his family.  He was educated in Toccoa, Geogia and servied in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with Beacon Manufacture, Seneca Sanitary Dept, Coats and Clark Inc., and U.S. Railroad. Howard married Katie Jackson and to this union seven children were born.

Henry A. Richie was born to Almeda and Styles Richie of Seneca, SC.  Henry known as "Fuzz" traveled with his musical abilities playing the piano and guitar when he met and married Barbara Pittman Richie and the moved to Athens, GA. Henry had four children (Julius Richie, Bernard Richie Charles Richie and Henrietta Richie Hawes). Henry was a lead guitar palyer for soul singer James Brown for several years. He was an original member of the Lighthouse Singers and former pianist of the Lighthouse Gospelettes. Kimberly Richie Lane was born in Toccoa, Georga in Stepehns County on March 29, 1969 to Kate and Howard Richie.  Kim was the youngest of six brothers and sisters (Donnie, Dedgra, Vincent, Valencia, Aletha, James) and two sons Antwell and Mickael.  At time of death Kim had one granddaughter.

Bernard Edward Richie died on Friday, December 6, 2013. Nod, as he was fondly called, was the second of four children born to the late Henry and Barbara Pittman Richie. Bernard was the grandson of Styles and Almeda Richie.  Bernard joined Rogers Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful employee of the University of Georgia as Grounds Crew Supervisor, a position he held for many years. Bernard also held a PhD in hat wearing, fishing and going to the movies. He had a strong passion for family, friends, and the Georgia "Dawgs".

Jasper Thomas Richie was born in Stephens County, Georgia to the late Styles Richie, Sr and Almeda Drake Richie.  He joined Cleveland C.M.E. Church in Toccoa, GA at an early age. He departed this life at Oconee Memorial Hospital. At the time of death, Jasper was survived by his mother, three sisters (Lurenia, Mable, and Burcie), and three bothers (Howard, Henry, and Styles Jr.).
