JOAN BOMSTEAD (JOHNSTON)
It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we share the loss of Joni Bomstead on February 24, 2024. Joan E. Bomstead (Johnston) was born in Seattle, Washington, December 16, 1939 to James and Vera Johnston. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Washington State University.
Her early professional career began as an administrative secretary for several law firms in Seattle. She spent a number of years with Wyman Capital Investments, then a few years with the McCaw Corp and completed her career with Acorn Ventures owned by Rufus Lumry. Throughout her employment career as an administrator, she enjoyed working with some amazing entrepreneurs.
Joni had a unique ability to make lasting friendships from both her professional relationships and her personal acquaintanceships. Upon retirement she enjoyed traveling the world and spending time in her homes in Bellevue, WA as well as the Palm Springs area. During her last five years she enjoyed residing at Aegis Assisted Living of both Overlake and Bellevue. During her years in both locations she made many wonderful friends with her fellow residents as well as many of the staff who loved her dearly. She will miss them and they will miss her. Joni was well known for her great smile and open arms to all who had the pleasure of knowing her throughout her lifetime.
Joni raised two amazing sons, Jeffrey Bomstead and Brad Bomstead, who were very dedicated and loyal to their wonderful mother. She was the grandmother to Karen Bomstead and Natalie Bomstead. Besides her sons and granddaughters, she is survived by her brother, Jerry Johnston, his wife Joan Johnston, niece Kathy Brown, grandniece Erisa Horiuchi, and grandnephews Ken and Dan Horiuchi.
