Nancy Pittenger was born in Seattle to Earl and Elizabeth (Morris) Walters. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958 and the University of Washington in 1962. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Following her marriage to Harry DeTurk they lived in the Philippines, then in San Francisco, southern California, Beaverton, Oregon, and Gilroy, California. She continued to live in Gilroy following their divorce, later moving to Hollister, California where she taught elementary school. Along the way she earned a Master's degree in Education from National University.
She married Donald Pittenger in 2006 and they relocated to her childhood Seattle home in the Belvedere Terrace neighborhood.
Nancy's interests included tennis, gardening, skiing, travel, music, and her beloved granddaughters. She was a member of the University Presbyterian Church.
Nancy is survived by her husband, her sons Charles DeTurk (Lori) and Thomas DeTurk (Doris), and granddaughters Jenna and Corinne.
