DON GLEASON

DON GLEASON

1939-11-25 2009-11-26

GLEASON, Donald Fredrick (Age 69) Born November 26, 1939 in Seattle, WA, Donald passed unexpectedly on November 16, 2009 surrounded by family and dear friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Susan, sons Michael and Ryan, daughters Sharon and Juli, and grandchildren Taylor and Andrew. A 48 year resident of Spokane, Don was a manufacturers representative for many lighting fixture companies and was the president of the Spokane Construction Council in 1984. Don loved the outdoors. An avid hunter up until his love of sailing and skiing took up more of his free time. He raced sailboats on Lake Coeur D'Alene with family and friends as crew, rarely yelling about missed spinnaker sets. He skied all over the northwest. His annual trips to Nelson, BC with the other "Ugly Americans" were always the highlight of his year, and he loved to tell their stories. Dogs were one of his greatest enjoyments in life. While training hunting dogs was among his past jobs, he truly excelled in training hunting dogs in the fine art of the lazy life, his Vizsla Kelli being a crowning achievement. Don loved his friends and family. Quick to give everyone a hard time, it was his ability to receive, as well as give, which provided him with a wealth of good friends. All of whom will miss him just as much as his family.

I was very saddened to hear of Dons passing as we all think that being our 70's is way too early to leave this earth. Don and I enjoyed many days out on his 12' racing runabout on Lake Washington trying to outrun the water police doing 35 in a 7 knot zone. I ended up buying the boat and motor from him and had many more good times in it. Don was a true friend and I'II always cherish the memories we had together either boating or double dating. Rest in peace my friend.
