Jay P. HORNBEAK born March 23, 1940 was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and loyal friend to a multitude of people. He died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14. Jay is known to many as the owner of Hornbeak Irrigation. He has touched the lives of countless individuals. Jay "lived large" and was the center of several circles of friends. He was passionate about fly-fishing and his two black labs, Duke and Reba. Jay coached little league and various youth activities when his children were young and was a member of Glendale Country Club for 30 years. His father, Jay W. Hornbeak, stepfather, Dr. Jay Harold Brown and brother, Tony Brown, preceded Jay in death. Jay is survived by his wife, Sharon Hornbeak, mother, Lorna Brown, sons Jay (wife Heidi, grandson Carl) and Bryan (wife Shelli) Hornbeak, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Brian Berkhausen, and brother Grant Hornbeak. Jay was vice president of the TR's service club, and was active in Boys Club activities. He and his wife lived in Bellevue, raised two sons, and then had a grandson. He owned Hornbeak Irrigation. He was very active in his community with various youth activities in early years, and with his country club, his dogs and fly fishing, later. He was surrounded by many friends. He died unexpectedly in September, 2002 in Bellevue.

Jay Hornbeak was my date for my 16th birthday. My aunt knew his aunt and arranged a date a few weeks earlier. There was usually a group of us who went to his house house after the football games to swim in his heated pool. He was a nice guy and I was looking forward to seeing him again.
