JOE LA FONTAINE
1940-11-17 2017-03-21Joe Donald La Fontaine, 76, went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 21, 2017. Joe was born on November 17, 1940 in Seattle, WA and was the middle child to Donald and Dorothy La Fontaine. Joe grew up in Seattle, WA graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1958. Joe joined the Navy in 1959 and proudly served his country. Joe later moved to Southern California, where in the summer of 1965, he met the love of his life, Susan (Ballingrud) La Fontaine. They were married October 2, 1965 and enjoyed a lifetime of love and happiness together. Joe and Sue moved back to Seattle in 1966 and raised their 3 children (Jerome, Natalie, and Derek). In 1999, Joe and Sue retired and moved to Tucson, AZ where they golfed and enjoyed family, friends, and good times in the sun. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Sue La Fontaine and loving family: Jerome and Christina La Fontaine, and their children Marina, Cat, and Joey; Natalie La Fontaine and her daughter Arianna Mosca; and Derek and Kim La Fontaine, and their children Stein and Thor. Bev and I always enjoyed their company both in Seattle and in Tuscon. They both always had a smile on their faces. Everyone knew what a good athlete Joe was in school, but during our visit to see Sue, she shared a little secret, that most of us never heard before. Joe had six (6) hole in ones at the golf club he belonged to. The Club put a plaque up stating his accomplishments. Sue asked, when they took it down could she please have it. The Club Pro said they would make her another one "Cuz this one ain't comin down!"
