Gail was born in Seattle, WA to Roy and Letha Matheson on December 20, 1939. She has been a long-time resident in the Seattle area, graduating from Roosevelt High School and then attending the University of Washington for a couple years. During her college years she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She worked as an administrative assistant for various companies in the Seattle area including King Broadcasting in the mid 1960's, Alcoa for about 20 years and for about 10 years in King County HUD. Gail loved photography, her poodles, outdoor activities such as sailing, and she especially looked forward to watching the Highland Games which reminded her of her Scottish heritage. Gail passed away on April 21, 2011 in Seattle at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mabel Larson, her father, Roy G. Matheson, her mother, Letha (Mordyck) Matheson and her brother, Gary D. Matheson.
