RICHARD (DICK) RONNING

RICHARD (DICK) RONNING

Dickie Ronning (my name for him that he later insisted he had outgrown) was one of my closest childhood friends in View Ridge, along with Ray Baughn and Judy Hill. I cannot believe Dickie is gone. After my family moved into his neighborhood, we played almost daily, creating "forts" in the ravine by our homes, hunting for trilliums, picking berries, riding our bikes -- and fighting when we felt like it. We were "best friends" and our mothers were "best friends." They enjoyed sharing Norwegian recipes, and one time when I was very sick, Dorothy Ronning was there to help my parents and me. Dickie was a great friend to his friends, and he was hard working and creative. I admired him, and I shall always miss him. I only wish I could have visited with him before he passed away. My love goes out to his younger brother Gary, and to his family...
