CLASSMATE BIOS

In some of the past reunions, we have printed a book containing a bio of most classmates. This is too expensive and is outdated quick, so we are providing this page to create a digital classmates bio book. Please know... this information IS secure and NOT available on the website, but you are able to contact anyone 'via email', who has posted their bio.

So, please take a few minutes to update us with your comments and contact information, especially if you moved or changed your email address. Please add a current picture of yourself – it can be with your spouse, your dog, pet rock, what ever you prefer.
Your 'Then' photo will be added later by the site administrator.
Again please remember... no address or contact information is displayed on the website page, it is secure and only available for messages or announcements from the Reunion Committee.

Thanks and enjoy catching up on everyone.
The following pages by default are sorted by 'Last Name'. For better results, click on the down arrow to the right of the 'Sort By' and select 'Maiden Name'. It will be easier to find specific classmates.

If you have trouble accessing your previous bio, send a message through the "Contact Us" page and we can assist with your username and password.

Children: 3
Occupation: RETIRED-
Comment: I worked as a legal secretary upon graduation, switched to technology companies, and worked in San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles, and finally back home to Minneapois where I met my husband of 43 years, Rich. We have three children, two boys and a girl, and one granddaughter. Rich graduated from DeLasalle (1961), and has worked in real estate and tax preparation in the Twin Cities, and is still working! We spend most of the winter in Sun City, Arizona. I would welcome visitors when Rich returns to Minneapolis to do taxes, and I am in Sun City. Give me a call at 952-212-1526.

Barbara Zakariasen (Kocemba)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Resort owner
Comment: For the past 37 yrs I've been living in a cabin out in the woods in northern Minnesota. It is really very nice, we are on beautiful lake and our friends (guest) actually pay to come and stay with us. I have a reasonably great husband most of the time, two terrific kids some of the time and 13 very interesting active and fun grandkids all of the time.

Our daughter, Gina the good one, lives 4 miles away with there 4 boys. She homes schools them and they help us alot around the resort. They keep very busy with sports, hunting and fishing.

Our prodigal son Troy moved to Moscow with their 9 kids. Fortunately that's Moscow, Idaho not Russia. We spend one to two months out there every year. Troy owns a critical care ambulance transfer business (pactems.org)

as well as a company that provides paramedic support for forest firefighters (firelinemedics.com).

For excitement last summer we did a recreation of a motorcycle trip we took 41 yrs ago to the Artic Circle, North of Fairbands, Alaska, then down to Sturgis,South Dakota. Quite the adventure, not many of those left in our aching bodies.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and renewing old friendships.

Comment:
Hi Classmates ~  I'm planning to attend with Sally H. Hundemer and her husband.  Hope to see some S.B's. at Old Central Sat. 8/18/07 from 10 AM - noon so you can visit with the senior division ( that still competes).  Bring noseplugs and for a small fee that Bonnie Kutzler collects you can practice, too!  ~~ I volunteer for Winonah Elem Library in So. Mpls. and also Mt Olivet Home (memory loss unit). My oldest girl graduated from Mpls. College of Art and Design. The youngest is a 6th yr. senior in Madison -UW. She spent the last 9 months in Quito, Ecuador, visiting Peru, the rain forest, the Gallapagos, Indian villages, etc. The pictures were great! I've seen a bit of the USA, Mexico - (28 trips), and Europe (15 weeks so far.) Would love to live in Europe eventually.  I'm hoping this reunion will have lots of last minute registrations. I do have trouble with PC's- and am not hooked up to internet in my home, so won't send a picture. I will bring old pictures from Aquila Elem from '57-'60).

Dale Larsen

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Teacher
Comment: I’d like to say my failures at St Louis Park H.S. were due to teachers not giving me a chance…but that would be a lie. They gave me a chance. Probably more than they should have. They even allowed me to have my picture in the yearbook even though the only credits I earned beyond the 10th grade were in Phy. Ed. and a few shop classes. Misspelling my name in the yearbook may have been some kind of payback for my behavior. (I’m a Larsen with an “e” not an “o”)

Having been kicked out of most of my regular classes, my days were largely spent in study hall asleep at my desk. If I came to school at all, I arrived late and left early. One of my favorite early-outs was to walk into the main office with my pants unzipped and announce that my zipper was broken, and I needed to go home and change my pants. The secretaries handed me a pass, while carefully maintaining eye contact, never bothering to investigate the authenticity of my claim. Eventually I quit going to school altogether.

As I look back into life’s rearview mirror, replaying the images of my misspent youth, I see a kid trying to be cool, while squandering his future like devalued currency. A young ego maniac with an inferiority complex, hiding his vulnerabilities in a cloud of cigarette smoke and false bravado.

But somehow that future didn’t all turn out so bad. I must have had a guardian angel looking after me. A sixteen month tour in Vietnam as an Army paratrooper left me with only Agent Orange exposure and a great tan.

After the Army I took the GED test and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with, of all things, a teaching degree. Later a Master’s Degree and a career as a school administrator.  Throughout my career in education I tried to give all students a chance. Probably more than I should have.

Since retirement, my wife and I  travel every winter, rotation between Europe, Asia and Latin American. We've been back to Vietnam thirteen times. We also spend some of the summer at our farm in Northern Minnesota

Occupation: Neurologist
Comment: It's the old question. If you could go back to your High School years, what would you change? What would you do differently?

NOT A DAMNED THING!

We were one of the last groups that didn't have to grow up too quickly, you know, College prep at age 6.

I feel like we had an amazing education----spectacular teachers, BUT, we had fun!
