CLASSMATE BIOS

In some of the past reunions, we have printed a book containing a bio of most classmates. This is too expensive and is outdated quick, so we are providing this page to create a digital classmates bio book. Please know... this information IS secure and NOT available on the website, but you are able to contact anyone 'via email', who has posted their bio.

So, please take a few minutes to update us with your comments and contact information, especially if you moved or changed your email address. Please add a current picture of yourself – it can be with your spouse, your dog, pet rock, what ever you prefer.
Your 'Then' photo will be added later by the site administrator.
Again please remember... no address or contact information is displayed on the website page, it is secure and only available for messages or announcements from the Reunion Committee.

Thanks and enjoy catching up on everyone.
The following pages by default are sorted by 'Last Name'. For better results, click on the down arrow to the right of the 'Sort By' and select 'Maiden Name'. It will be easier to find specific classmates.

If you have trouble accessing your previous bio, send a message through the "Contact Us" page and we can assist with your username and password.

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Retired
Comment:

Like many others, I too retired a few years ago, after almost 30 years working as a teacher, superintendent/warden, and assistant deputy director for the California Youth Authority.
My husband of 33 years and I spend 6 months a year in Northern California, in the foothills of the Sierras, and the other six months on Flathead Lake in western Montana.
My husband graduated from SunnyHills High School in Fullerton, CA in 1967, and he believes that one of his classmates married someone from our SLP class of '67. If this sounds familiar to anyone, we would love to hear from you!

Connie Orenstein

Marital status: Divorced
Children: 1
Occupation: Licensed Optician
Comment: It's hard to believe that it's been 50 years! I attended the U of M, graduating in Winter 1973 with a major in American Studies. I married Mel Dickstein (SLP 1965) in 1969 and we divorced in 1977. I worked for Prudential, then did various other things before moving to Israel in 1985. I didn't stay long; I got married again and we moved to NYC at the end of 1986, where I've been living ever since. My son is now 30 years old and a newly-minted lawyer, working at a firm in Manhattan. I got a degree in opticianry at a local college and I've been working in that field for 16 years, part of that time as an instructor in the college. I'm a pretty enthusiastic knitter, and I do a lot of urban hiking. I've been single again for a long time. I love the excitement of The City and I'm still working, but MN always seems so easy and beautiful when I come to visit that I think about moving back some day. I even miss those winters - at least the snow is clean and they know how to plow it!

I only moved to SLP from South Mpls in 10th grade so I don't have really close friends in our class like some others do, but I recognize a lot of names and I've enjoyed reading the bios. My 92 year old father just passed away in July, so I'm not in the liveliest mood, but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. Couldn't miss the 50th Reunion!

Deborah Sabin (Patrick)

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Receptionist, PLATO Learning, Inc.
Comment: I'm coming to the reunion this time with my best friend and former classmate Mary Oslund and her husband Chuck. It's been awhile since I've seen other fellow classmates around town!

I've been busy working again as a receptionist after working over 30 years as an executive assistant at Honeywell. My husband and I moved to Prior Lake recently and are now training a new puppy! Now that is hard work...

Thanks to all who organize and plan these events. I hope to see other familiar faces!!

See you in August.

Comment:

Jerry(Greenway '64) and I just celebrated our 35th anniversary.  All but one year has been in Iowa Falls, Iowa, a town of 6,000 located three hours south of the Cities.  We have enjoyed the sense of community in this town, and it was a wonderful place to raise our two children.

Jonathan is a chemistry teacher in the Quad Cities, is married and has a two year old daughter.

Amanda taught high school ceramics outside of Topeka, Kansas for four years and is currently in the MFA ceramics program at Kent State in Ohio.

I have been the department manager of the fabrics and crafts area in our local Wal-Mart for the last 17 years. Retirement is not in the near future.

Jerry and I have been renovating a Victorian house off and on for the last 34 years, and we are soon ready to help with the second Habitat for Humanity house in our county.

Just in the last month, the family house on 32nd and Jersey was sold and now we don't have our usual place to stay.

I will be at the reunion with Carol Rose Premack, a friend since Lenox days.

Life has been good.

Robbie Perl (Perl)

Marital status: Married
Comment: Fitfy-five years since our days at Park High...it just can't be!

Still married (44 years) to Rick Garon, Duluth East class of '65. We've lived in the same neighborhood for 43 years though we did tear down our original rambler & built a new house on our lot 22 years ago.  I can look out our living room window & see the house I grew up in across "Perl's Park".

In 2018 we built a second home in Oro Valley, AZ, where we bike, walk, hike & practice yoga.

My closest friends from our class are Lynne Goldberg Mitchell, Neil Lapidus & Susan Feinberg Hughes.

Susan Petrikat

Marital status: Committed Relationship
Occupation: Disabled
Comment:
Susan Petrikat has developed advanced-stage Alzheimer's and is currently located at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno, SD. She can no longer talk, walk, or do anything for herself.  I, Landon Nusz, have been her companion for 21 years, and am trying to give her the best care available. Unfortunately, Susan has recently taken a turn for the worst, and I don't expect her to be around much longer.

I am putting together a biographical sketch for Susan, but don't really know much about her history before 1997. If anybody can offer any information on Susan during her earlier years, please email it to me at: Lnusz@sprintmail.com.  Thank you.

Comment: I got tried of the cold and snow. SO... what did I do with my husband... we moved to a nice warm and hot (but it's a dry hot) place with a strip instead of downtown. And left the kids back in Minnesota. Hee Haw now that's living.
