DEACON ANDREW FRED KELLEY, affectionately called, "Fred" was born August 11, 1952 to the parentage of William and Earlene Kelley® in Birmingham, Alabama. He was reared in a Christian home where the biblical principles were taught. Fred also recognized Mr. George Myles as another father figure in his life.
Fred developed a relationship with God as a child and this relationship flourished More each day until his death. As a servant of God, Fred became a Deacon at Hayes Chapel Baptist Church, North Smithfield Manor under the leadership of Rev. Marvin Hubbard. He also was the church's Treasurer and assisted with youth activities.
Fred was a 1971 graduate of Springdale (New Castle) High School and was an active participant of the class reunion planning committee. He loved being a part of the class activities and having fun with his friends.
Fred married Annquinetta Frazier Dansby in 2002. This family unit consisted of five children. nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Fred was a professional truck driver and worked for various trucking companies such as Quickrete, Schneider and B Trucking Company. His trucker handle (CB name) was "Po-Hoss" because he said that he had the drive and strength of a racehorse when driving his 18-wheeler truck. He also worked as a PCA at Lakeshore for many years.
He was passionate about barbecuing and fishing. Fred perfected his barbeque recipe and received many accolades for its flavorful, tender and "finger-licking-good" taste. He often cooked for church functions, special events and just to treat the elderly members of the church and community. He was a giving person and would often give his last dollar to bless someone else.
On September 23, 2012 Fred suffered a life threatening and debilitating stroke. He continued to make the best of his life given his current physical condition.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Earlene Kelley; special father, George Myles; sisters, Jacqueline White. Paulette Jackson and James Kelley; father-in-law, Reverend James Frazier. On September 1, 2016, Fred made his exodus to heaven to rejoice with his family.
He leaves to reflect on his life and legacy: wife, Annquinetta Kelley; five children: daughters, Garnetta Taylor and Franchezka Dansby; sons, Gary (Danielle) Dansby, Marcus Paradise and Braylon Ford; four brothers, William (Victoria), Robert (Sarah), Anthony (Carolyn) Kelley and Jared (Deidra) Myles; five sisters, Deborah (Herse) White, Evelyn Myles, Pamela Myles, Cara Dean (Erskine) Williams and Cheryl Bryant; mother-in-law, Georgia Frazier: sisters-in-law, Bernadine (Anthony) Hoston and Derrel Frazier; brother-in-law, James (Antoinette) Frazier; best friend, Charles (Pete) Stanley; special neighbor, Johnnie Baldwin; special friends, Reverend Calvin Large, Reverend Otis Miller, Edward and Brunetta Paige and Tylvia Jones; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; an extensive number of family and friends.
