Burt Edward Hesse, 47, died Jan. 24, 2002, at his home. Born in Denver, he lived in Apple Valley for 25 years. Burt was a manager at KFC for about four years. He was a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 13 years and was honorably discharged in 1987 from George Air Force Base. Burt was a very active member of the Victorville Kiwanis, past lieutenant governor; Key Club adviser, and he was on the board of Victor Valley Memorial Park. He is survived by wife Fran of Apple Valley; daughters Mellisa of New York City and Heather of Apple Valley; mother Eleanor M. of Denver; brothers George and his wife Ruth of Amherst, Colo., and Bruce and his wife Emily of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters Lee Hearman and her husband Jim of Pittsburg, and Kathy Bragg and her husband Steve of Fort Collins, Colo..

Only have one vivid memory of Burt, but it is a fun memory. One summer, Burt, his girlfriend Louise and I would meet up at the Schlessman YMCA for swimming. Most of the time was filled with horseplay instead.
