I never really knew Carol, but I often felt like I did. I knew who she was. I felt like I knew her because our last names were almost identical. Mine ends in "d", while her last name ended in "dt". Like my father, her father was also a carpenter and both were named "Charles". I remember my Dad getting calls only to have them being the wrong number, because the caller had called the wrong Charles Hildebrand, when they wanted Charles Hildebrandt. It is very unfortunate that Carol passed at a very young age.

As a freshman I gathered up the courage to ask Carol to my first school dance at TJ. So I experienced my school dance with Carol. I remember her nervous laugh that was a mix of hiccups with the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. Rest in peace my angel.
