When Mark Bernard Mugleston was born on May 18, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, his father, Bernard, was 33 and his mother, Clara, was 28. He married on May 29, 1979, in Oakland, California. He had six children during his marriage. He died on January 2, 2005, in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 49, and was buried in Provo, Utah.

Mark Mugleston – who in the world didn’t love Mark Mugleston? I know every girl in high school did. Wow - where to start. Mark and I were on the wrestling team in the same weight class – 132 lbs. And every week I barely managed to beat Mark in the wrestle off to determine who would wrestle ‘A’ squad. But here’s what truly counts. Mark and I were very good friends. He would come over to my house and teach me how to play the drums. I had the run of the basement at my house, along with a set of drums and, well, a nice stereo. The first song Mark taught me to play was Long Train Runnin’ by the Doobie Brothers. But Mark never came to my house alone. With him he always had not one, but two girls. And no, one was not for me, they were both with Mark. Mark was so smart, unique, and playful - women simply adored him. It was a blessing and it couldn’t have been bestowed upon a nicer, kinder, more decent man. It was especially hard for me to understand why Mark passes away at such a young age - 49. To me he was the personification of youth, vitality, and clean living. But Mark knew he was going to pass on so just before he did, he traveled from Utah to Denver and arranged a going away get together with his friends that I attended. There was something different about Mark. You never quite knew what he was thinking about and that made him interesting. But to get to know Mark all you had to do was look into his smiling eyes and you knew whatever he was thinking about – it was good!
