Comment: While I wasn't a very good student at Memorial, I am grateful for how well the teaching staff prepared me for college. I remember pulling C's and D's in Mrs Divittorio's algebra and Mrs McDougal's english classes. My grades didn't show it, but I enjoyed these classes, learned a lot, and am grateful for these wonderful teachers. As a senior at Memorial, I was interested in pursuing Oceanography, but dad talked me into Electrical Engineering, which I pursued at TJC and the University of Tulsa. The calculus, differential equations, and other difficult classes I took frightened me enough to start studying in earnest, and somehow I wound up on the dean's honor roll and finished out with a BSEE from TU. I worked at PSO, CSW, and AEP electrical power companies in a variety of positions and retired in 2020 after 44 years of service. Immediately afterwards, I started an engineering consulting business and plan to continue that, along with my active participation in the IEEE Transformers Committee through 2024.
Along with my engineering work, I serve as a pastor/elder and worship leader in our local church here in Columbus, OH. I also enjoy competitive racquetball a couple of times a week. I was not able to participate in varsity athletics at Memorial, mainly due to care-taking responsibilities for my father who developed crippling arthritis when I was 9. But, I didn't get any sports injuries and still got my knees at age 68! Cathy and I recently celebrated 41 years of marriage and the birth of our first grandchild in the Czech Republic. We are entering an exciting new phase of life.
