On Thursday, June 9, 2022, Emily “Millie” J Powell, loving wife, stepmother, aunt, and BoomMa, passed away surrounded by her family.

Millie was born February 1, 1954 in Tulsa, OK to Joe and Ellen Turk. She grew up in Tulsa and attended Memorial High School. Following high school, Millie attended Oklahoma University and later Tulsa Community College where she fostered her love for art and design while studying Mechanical Drafting and AutoCAD. She worked for Memorex - TelEx and DeShazo Tang and Associates Engineering, but her artistic skills lead her heart to pencil sketching, painting, jewelry making, cooking, and photography.

On June 5th, 1993 she married Steve Powell and gained two step daughters, Kendell and Emily, who constantly reminded their Dad that she truly married him for them! Steve and Millie celebrated 29 years of marriage June 5, 2022 with a perfect trip to Lake of the Ozarks. Over the past 29 years, they created a beautiful life in Broken Arrow, OK where they currently reside overlooking a golf course.

Millie gained the coveted title of “BoomMa” when her oldest grandchild was born in 2009. Four more grandkids followed and loved doting on their BoomMa. Ledger, Locke, Kinley, Reed and Jack will miss her daily but have been so blessed to be spoiled rotten by her their whole lives.

Millie also leaves a sister Janie (Jack) Holt, a nephew Jordan (Michelle) Holt and their children Hayden and Lilah. She also loved being Aunt Emily to her great-nephews, Peyton Bell and Carson Bell.
