Donna was born in Kansas City. She attended Byrd Junior High. In high school, Donna was a member of the Big Blue Machine and was on the rifle line. She was married to Lance Leipold and they had 2 daughters, Laura and Shannon. The family lived in Carrollton, TX until 2016, when Donna and Lance' moved to Hot Springs Village, AR. Donna enjoyed playing golf and being with her daughters. Her ashes were scattered in North Carolina and Myrtle Beach.

---Donna was a joyous, funny person; the type of person who could make you laugh, any time and any place. My favorite memory of Donna is following a band contest. We'd pulled into eat at a Sirloin Stockade-type place and we were getting self-serve ice cream. The serving nozzle got stuck, dispensing vanilla ice cream everywhere. Without missing a beat, Donna yanked her boot off and stuck it under the nozzle, filling it with ice cream. She realized what she'd done and doubled over with laughter. As did the rest of us
