Robert debuted in 1984 at New York’s Carnegie Music Hall.

“..And to his credit, Mr. Barr never forgot that Chopin’s “Polonaise in F-sharp minor (Op 44) had its origins in a sturdy peasant dance: he downplayed demonic furies in favor of a refreshing straight forwardness.” –New York Times

–” He is a strong pianist with a developed sense of musical architecture, and he produces a rich, full tone.” –New York Times

After his Carnegie Hall debut and touring Europe as a concert pianist, Robert started a movie and TV show prop warehouse in New York City. At age 41, he married Alice Ruvane in New York City. He then played the organ for a church in Brooklyn and 10 years and taught.

Robert died in Tulsa at age 56 in September, 2011 following a long illness. He is survived by friends including his devoted friend, Nancy Templeton Welch from the Memorial class of ‘73.
