Bill attended Memorial High School and was a member of the Big Blue Machine. Following high school, Bill attended Southern Nazarene University, graduating in 1977. At SNU, Bill earned his bachelor’s degree and met his wife of 36 years and mother of his two daughters. Later in life, Bill would further his education by attending Pensacola Christian College where he earned in master’s degree in Christian School Administration, graduating in 1992. Bill’s academic pursuits would help him prepare for his life’s endeavors: providing a faith-based educational experience and inspiring children and others though his mentorship.
Bill was the principal at various Christian schools in California including Ninth Street Christian School, Western Christian School and Pacific Christian School for a combined span of 15 years. Bill also coached team sports for the junior high boys which included football, baseball and basketball. This is where Bill shined, leading teenage boys to develop skills in sports and strong sportsmanship, all with the word of God as the foundation. Later in life, Bill worked as the Director of Marketing for Southern Nazarene University, was the owner of Sooner Media Marketing, and most recently at Home Depot.
Bill, a strong and devout Christian throughout life, actively demonstrated his deep faith in God. Bill was involved in his local churches, serving on the church boards for the Upland Church of the Nazarene and the Archibald Ranch Community Church. Musically inclined, Bill played the drums as part of the church worship team, but his faith was not limited to the local community church, God drew Bill’s heart to the people of Uganda, which manifested into numerous trips to Africa over several years to help produce low-cost homes, orphanages, and medical centers. He truly lived his life in service to others.
Our beloved Bill loved the outdoors and music. He also enjoyed traveling to Utah to go on cattle drives, and the cowboy lifestyle. He moved to Austin in 2017 and continued his passion for outdoor activities with his partner, Sandra. They enjoyed hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and loved ones. He was an intelligent, by faithful, tender-hearted and thoughtful man who was a cancer survivor and loved God. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. In honor of his wishes, Bill’s remains will be spread in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to be made in his memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
