Viveca Joan Anderson

1955-06-25 2024-09-22

Viveca Joan Anderson was born June 29, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN the youngest of three daughters to Helene and John Anderson. She passed September 22, 2024 at Inverness Village in Tulsa after a lengthy battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA).

She was a graduate of Memorial High School in Tulsa but spent most of her childhood attending schools in Shawnee Mission, KS. She moved to Tulsa with her parents her senior year in high school. Viveca earned a degree in computer science from Tulsa Community College and entered the workforce as a computer programmer. She was a pioneer in the field of computer bar coding first with Gear Products before moving to Thrifty/Budget Rent-A-Car.

She elected to take early retirement to pursue a life in southern Florida, a longtime goal, and relocated to Englewood, Florida. Always an active, outdoor oriented person, Viveca enjoyed hiking, snorkeling, kayaking and the abundant wildlife and fauna of Florida. Her life there gave her immense pleasure. She shared her life’s journey with her boyfriend of 48 years David Hagar. Viveca and David traveled the world together and enjoyed a wonderful, loving relationship. When she was diagnosed with MSA, David moved to Englewood to be her primary caregiver and continued in that role until her health required that she locate in an equipped facility. That is when she returned to Tulsa to be closer to family. He continued by her side her until her passing providing everything from help with daily chores to transportation to welcome comic relief.

Viveca is survived by sisters Debby Schreier and her husband, George Rishmany, of Stilwell, KS, Jackie Willis and her husband, Harry, of Sand Springs, OK, and nieces Erin Willis of Tulsa and Kelsey Willis of Brooklyn, NY. Per her wishes Viveca's ashes will be interned in a man-made coral reef off the coast of Sarasota, FL. The family suggest that friends make contributions to their favorite animal welfare organization in Viveca’s name. She would like that very much.
