Service for Denise Yocom will be 10:00a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Life Changer Church. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, December 30, from 1pm-6pm, with family receiving visitors from 2pm-4pm. Denise passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. She was 69.

Born on September 25, 1955, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Jim and Shirley (Cox) Smith. Her education was a testament to her commitment to personal growth, having graduated from Memorial High School in Tulsa and subsequently returning to school to further her academic pursuits.

On Valentine's Day in 1997, Denise married Jerry Wayne Yocom, and they built a loving home together in Claremore.

Denise's career journey began when she took on multiple jobs, showcasing her work ethic and determination. She was one of the first employees to open the McDonald's in Claremore and dedicated many years to serving at Wal-Mart. After achieving her bachelor's degree in psychology from Langston University, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Shadow Mountain in Tulsa, where she ultimately retired.

Her personality endeared her to many; she was known for her kind heart and her willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Even in the face of health challenges, she maintained a positive outlook, embodying strength and resilience that inspired others.

A woman of diverse interests, Denise found joy in watching movies, often sharing that passion with her little sister during their younger years. She also enjoyed crocheting and listening to music, especially the oldies that held a special place in her heart.

Denise is survived by her husband, Jerry Yocom; her mother Shirley Smith; her sisters, Dionne Pruitt and her husband Roger, and Dane Smith; her nephews and niece, Isaac Pruitt, Samuel Pruitt, and Ellie Pruitt; along with her beloved dogs, Spanky and Addie She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Smith.
