On Friday, August 24, 2018, William Schmidt, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away at the age of 65.
William was born on September 30, 1952 in Elmhurst, IL to Howard and Nan (Agnes Woods) Schmidt. Bill was a Field Service Engineer for 32 years in the semiconductor industry. His job allowed him to travel throughout the world. On December 13, 1980 he married the love of his life, Christine (Bell) Schmidt. They raised two sons, Alec and Sam, of whom he was so proud.
Bill had a passion for camping, hiking, spending time in the woods, and was a die-hard Cubs fan. When he wasn’t in the woods, he nurtured the abundance of plants in his garden and used care in obtaining the perfect cut as he mowed his lawn. Bill was an avid music lover, especially appreciating lyrics, and shared this with his two sons. He was known for his dry sense of humor, was truly a deep thinker, and his love of family was witnessed by all.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Howard, his mother Nan (Agnes) and his brother, Don. He is survived by his wife, Christine, their two sons, Alec and Sam, his brothers Mel (Jill) and Rick (Maria), his sister Donna (Bob) along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Please join us celebrating his life on Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 254 N Wood Dale Rd, Wood Dale IL. Visitation will begin at 9:30 followed by a funeral mass at 10:30.
