I understand your sorrow --
I understand your pain,
But don't weep as those
who have no hope.
For we'll see each other again!
Just remember all the good times,
The laughter and the songs.
Sweet memories to embrace you,
If the night seems dark and long.
Rejoice for me my loved one--
all those whom I adore,
For to be absent from the body,
Is to be present with the Lord!
"You bid no one a last farewell,
You said goodbye to none.
The heavenly gates just opened wide,
And the Master's voice said, 'Come.'
He knew that you were tired,
the hill was hard to climb.
So He gently closed your weary eyes
And whispered, 'Peace Be Thine.'"
WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU
When I must leave you for a little while,
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears;
And hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start bravely with a gallant smile,
And for my sake and in my name,
Live on and do all the things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer.
And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near.
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky.
