Margaret Lee Kemp McDonald received her wings as she laid down her weary body to rest on Thursday, March 17, 1994, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A native of Guilford County, she was born on February 28, 1907, to the late Rev. Edgar Henry Kemp and Mrs. Hattie Jeffries Kemp.
A graduate of Livingstone College, her earlier years were spent teaching children in Hiddenite, N. C. Later she moved north and composed a private business as a laundress. Edward Sylvester Kemp "Billy," experienced the beauty of God's saving grace as he slipped into slumber on Monday, November 24, 1997, at his Greensboro home.
He was the first of five children born to the late Margaret Kemp McDonald and Arthur McDonald. Two sisters preceded him in death, Mrs. Ruth Leavenson and Mrs. Veda Wood.
Billy accumulated an array of friends with his jolly personality from school age through the forty-plus years of residence in New York City. Upon his return to his native city of Greensboro, NC, he affirmed his faith by joining Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. There he learned the love of God and that God loved him.
