Rudolph 'Ray' Raychoin Young
1963-01-28 2020-01-14
On January 14, 2020, Rudolph "Ray" Raychoin Young departed this earthly life at the Select Specialty Hospital shared within the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
'Ray was born or. January 28, 1963, in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was adopted, and raised by
his maternal grandparents, The late Thomas Rudolph Young and the late Ruby MacDonald Young. They did an EXCELLENT job raising nurturing and loving him as their own.
He attended and received his education in the Guilford County School system and later graduated
from James B. Dudley Sr. High School.
Ray enjoyed fishing, cooking, and cooking out with his friends and family. He worked a variety of jobs before pursuing a career as a long-distance truck driver until his near-death experience caused him to become disabled. Ray was loved by many and lived a life that many would have given up and become sheltered. Ray had a way to make you laugh, smile, and cry all at the same time.
On November 6, 2019, Ray's life took a drastic change that caused him to be hospitalized. Upon admission, this change brought our family to his bedside and closer than we had been in a while. The Lord allowed us to reconnect allowing him and his birth mother Sandra Young Pressley, her husband Danny Pressley, sister Carol Young Shepard, and his ex-wife LaZondria Young to rekindle their relationship.
The family was so grateful to spend many days and nights caring for him and receiving the proper training to care for him in preparation for him to come home and live with his loved ones.
While God's plan was different from ours, His plan was best. He allowed His mercy and love that granted us the opportunity to mend broken fences, testify our love, and even shed some tears.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Sonya Smith, Mother Sandra Pressley (Danny) sisters Carol Shepard, and Katherine P. Stubblefield (David), nieces Danielle E Marsh (Bruce), and Charlotte Pressley, nephews Daniel "Al" Young (Mary) Danny M Pressley, and Christopher Y. Shepherd (Megan) special friends Carla Smith and Nathan Spruill, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
