So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a BSN and lived in Iowa City for several years, working at the University Hospital. Moved briefly to Atlanta,GA, then back to Iowa to get married to my husband, Sam (Hessam) in 1980.

We moved to the Denver area in 1982, where we lived for the next 36 years, raised 2 great kids, Lauren and Alex.
I worked the majority of that time at the University of Colorado hospital as a nurse in the NICU for a while, and the majority of my career was in the Operating Room. I also switched gears for a while and worked for an infertility specialist, and then for 5 years at the Rocky Mountain Gamma Knife Center.

Sam and I moved to Laguna Niguel, CA in 2019- I reluctantly settled into retirement rather than going back “in” during the pandemic- too scary!

We have family here in CA- my daughter and her husband, and my husband has family here, but I miss Colorado and my son in Denver!

Southern California is pretty great though!
I’ve been taking art classes thru a local college, hike with my dog and friends, help care for my mother in law, and am active socially in our lively over 55 neighborhood. I love being able to see the ocean everyday, too!

My parents are both gone (last year!), so I doubt I will have many more trips back to Ames after this reunion.

So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
I have been a teacher of learning disabled students in schools in Iowa and Minnesota since graduating from Iowa State in 1977 with a BS in Elementary Education. I came back and got a MS in Learning Disabilities in 1981. In 2005, I took early retirement from teaching in the Boone Community Schools to tutor/teach students with dyslexia and also teach piano. I have been doing this every since, even during the pandemic, when I tutored on line. I have continued my musical interests and play pipe organ and piano and will be going back to singing in my church choir soon. I am living in Ames and love being in my hometown! I enjoy going to cultural events, especially classical music, and supporting the ISU Men's Basketball program as a season ticket holder. Go Cyclones! I am looking forward to seeing so many of my classmates and friends at our 50th AHS reunion. Isn't Ames and AHS such a very special place to be from?! See you all soon! Oh, looking forward to Chris Myers being our MC again I hope!!

So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
Well, let's start with the bowl of yogurt, fruit and granola I'm eating. Uh, wait, may not have enough space. Let's back up: off to Iowa City for college in '73, eventually ended up in L.A. for 8 years, then moved to North Carolina where I got a masters degree in health administration and had a career managing non-profit hospices. And yes, six kids! Five daughters, #2 was a boy. None married, no grandkids. Yet. Amazing, considering I won the least likely to have children award at AHS. And, surprisingly, none appear to have chromosome damage. :^)
Big picture, I've been incredibly fortunate with good health, great career, lots of good times, and in retrospect, a wonderful childhood growing up in Ames.

So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
After AHS, I headed to Iowa State, where I met my future husband, Bob Waters, from Carroll. After graduation, I went on to law school. I’ve had a series of interesting and fun jobs in the energy and natural resources area, mostly working for the federal government in Washington, D.C. Sadly, I lost Bob to cancer in 2010. I have two terrific daughters – one lives with her husband near me in Washington, D.C., and the other lives in Seattle with her husband and my grandchild, one-year-old Lillian. I live in Alexandria, Virginia, still play with a variety of community orchestras, and do a little volunteer work for the local Democrats. I’m currently teaching very part time and doing a little consulting work relating to environmental issues.

So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
Hi everyone!
How do you put into words what a half a century has been for you? It's difficult, especially when you are a chatterbox like I am! I finished High School after the end of my junior year, once I completed 2 summer school classes. So, technically, I graduated at mid term in 1973. I was wild and crazy for many years! On Oct. 5, 1985, I married Ron Borich, from the class of 1975.
He and I have the same birthday, April 3, but I am 2 years older!, Our first child, Mason, was born in 1987 and our daughter came along in 1989. Both are also AHS Grads (2006 & 2007).
I worked mainly 4 jobs my "adult" life.
I worked for my parents, who owned a medical supply business in Des Moines. In 1982 they built a new Office/Warehouse in Altoona. I was there off and on for about a total of 10 years. I did bookkeeping and then supervised the Insurance and billing department. They sold their business in 1984, at which time, I left my job there.
My second job was at McFarland Clinic in their Business Office. I started out doing all of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield claims for the clinic.... I ended up as the Lead of Customer Service Phone group. That job ended after about 15 years! I worked about 5 years at a Cellular Phone store as their office manager!
During that time, on August 7, 2001, I began the journey of sobriety.
The Cellular Phone store closed in April of 2005. I was very grateful to the owners for their compassion and allowing me much needed time off, as while employed there, I lost my parents and my mother-in-law.
My Mom passed on Valentine's Day in 2003. I lost my Dad the following year, on my birthday, April 3, 2004. Ron's mother passed the next year in April 2005. I felt like my kids lost their grandparents way too young.
My last job was working for the State of Iowa, Department of Education, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services. We worked with individuals that had barriers to employment and did what we could to help them become employed. It was a wonderful job. It's hard to call anywhere I worked a JOB, because had I not loved what I did, I would not have stayed.
I retired in 2017 at 62. Once my husband retired, we began traveling south for 3 months to get out of Iowa winters! It was very hard for me at first because I didn't like to leave my kids, or my 4 grandchildren for that long. It's gotten easier each year.
Our son lives in Ames, owns his own home and is an electrician. Our daughter has 4 children and lives between Boone and Ogden. We keep VERY busy now with 3 of the grandkids all involved in some sports related activities. Our oldest is our handsome grandson, who was born on our birthday, April 3, 2008. Then we have 3 darling granddaughters! They are (almost) 7, 5 & 1/2 and the baby will be 4 in August!
I am very grateful and blessed to still be alive and living in Ames!
I hope to see all of you that come back for the reunion!
Bobbi

So, what have you been doing for the last 50 years?:
I attended Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio 1973-1977. It is a small liberal arts Bible college. There i got a BA in Communications and a minor in Bible. I was involved in Cheerleading, choirs, dramas and smaller traveling ministry teams. I worked in a summer Christian camp as a counselor, participated in beach evangelism on spring break, and volunteered to work with kids at a Children's Home. After graduating from college in 1977 I worked in a Children's Home as a supervisor for a year and then took a job in the Admissions office at Cedarville University doing student recruitment. In 1978 I married Russ Clark a fellow CU graduate. We have 2 children, Jennifer born in 1979 and Keith born in 1983. My husband was school teacher for 42 years and I was a stay at home mom. We did Christian camp ministry in the summers in Indiana and Ohio. We were involved in church youth ministry the first 10 years of our marriage but with all of Russ’s coaching it became too difficult. He coached basketball, volleyball, and track. I’ve been involved in church choir for 35 years, also singing in trios, duets, and mostly solos. My church no longer has a choir and I really miss it. After my son entered school I took a job as a social worker for Mercy Mental Health for almost 20 years. I taught Educational groups to the chronically mentally ill. Mostly individuals who had the diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar, depression and anxiety. It was a rewarding work and a ministry of love to hurting people. Now I care for the elderly in their homes.I love gardening, children's church ministries, traveling and Netflix! We have 4 grandchildren, two who live in Ohio and two who live in Georgia. I have an adorable Shih Tzu puppy who is my sweet companion. I’m proud to be a believer in Jesus Christ and hope each of my classmates have found a fulfilling relationship with God. John 14:6
Jesus said…”I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me”
I would love to share this truth with anyone! ✝️
Comment: Looking forward to the reunion!

I met my great and fantastic wife and married her in 1981. We have two unbelievable sons that are hard workers and married beautiful wives. They have blessed us with two amazing grandsons who are smart, curious and love animals and sports. My wife and I love to travel, golf, and do a little fishing. In our travels we visit lots of friends and family. We live in southwest Missouri on our horse and cattle ranch where we raise beef cattle. We look forward to seeing a lot of old friends in Ames.
