Tina Shwen
Tina and I first met in a playpen when we were babies. Our parents were very close friends. As children, we spent many hours together as close friends and on family gatherings. Her mother was like a second mother to me, and even when I became an adult, she always remembered my birthday with a card. Our senior HS year Tina and I continued our long friendship practicing Central cheerleading routines together. Tina graduated with both a bachelor's and master's degrees focusing on nutrition. However, her true love and calling became serving the Lord and helping women. She ultimately moved to Colorado Springs, married a physician there - Dr. Rick Di'Asio - and became an ordained minister at an evangelical church. Her beautiful story of helping women was being gifted with her only child, a son, from a woman who had planned to abort. Tina passed from cancer in 2011. I attended her memorial service at her church, and felt peace being reunited with her family after so many years apart. At her request, her ashes were spread in The Holy Land. Sadly, her sister Patti later passed also from cancer, and her mother 100+ years died shortly thereafter. Tina devoted the majority of her life to helping women who needed God's grace, and I am sure she now has a special place in His kingdom. Cheryl Duthie May
