Michael Dorso Sr.
Michael Joseph Dorso Sr., age 84 of Stratford, died peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 43 years to the late Lucille Irene Johnson Dorso. Born on July 13,1922 in Derby, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Salemme Dorso. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. Michael worked for 32 years for the Town of Stratford, Public Works Department until his retirement in 1979. Also he was a certified voting machine technician for many years for the Town of Stratford. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN Huskies and enjoyed decorating his home for the holiday season for all to enjoy. He is survived by his ten children and their spouses, Joseph Dorso of Shelton, Michael and Karen Dorso Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Peter and Sherri Dorso of Sarasota, Fla., James and Linda Dorso of Ansonia, Patricia and Kevin Spisto of Naugatuck, Dorothy and Dennis Culver of Sarasota, Fla., Kathy and John Haschak of West Haven, Lillian Dorso of Charlotte, N.C., Paula and John Rossi of Norwalk, and Holly and Lewis Gallick of Stratford; his sisters, Josephine Baklik of Derby, Mary Maler of Derby, Lillian Cassetti of Ansonia, and Florence Carney of Maryland. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, he was predeceased by his son, Francis Johnson, and his brothers, Charles, Harry, John and James. Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 21,2007 at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY in the Stratford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Frederic Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Stratford. The hours of visitation will take place on Sunday, May 20,2007 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
