Delta Zeta Sweet Suite Project

Please consider joining our initiative as we transform the Ashland Delta Zeta chapter suite.

Ashland Delta Zetas today do not have the “house” that the Ashland DZs in the 60s, 70s and some of the 80s enjoyed. That house is long gone, the college having torn them all down to make way for expanding the campus.

Instead, each sorority is assigned a floor in Clark Hall, and the common room on that floor is designated as their chapter suite. The Delta Zeta Suite is on the 2nd floor. It includes a kitchen and a chapter lounge living room. The actual dorm rooms on the 2nd floor are designated for DZs to live.

“The Chapter Suite is the central part of the members’ experience at Ashland. It is HOME”

The chapter suite functions as it did when we were all in college; for gatherings, socializing, eating, studying, meetings, cookie baking, TV watching, pledge and recruitment activities. They celebrate milestones here and is the space where they support each other. It showcases their framed composites, photos of their activities and showcases their awards and accomplishments. Our original charter from 1965 hangs here.  It’s our sisters’ home-away-from-home.

Our Goal

In May, 2025 this entire space will be gutted, including taking down the wall between the current kitchen and chapter room. A new kitchen will be installed, including fresh paint, new lighting, modern appliances, and better flooring.

New furnishings and lighting in the Chapter Room will make it more functional and attractive.

Demolition will begin the week of MAY 5, 2025, with the renovation complete for our historic Grand Opening on Saturday August 30 during our Delta Zeta Reunion celebrating the chapter’s 60th anniversary.

The Plan

Our priority is to modernize the space, the kitchen being top of the list. The wall between the kitchen and the chapter room will be removed making way for an expansive open concept with a bar-stooled, highly functionable peninsula. Fresh white cabinetry, open shelving, and new countertops will brighten the space. Delta Zeta’s color palette of rose and green will be incorporated in a thoughtful, sophisticated way.

We’ll embrace curves and a feminine color palette, our sorority’s symbolic colors tastefully integrated, modern, and chic. Rich green velvet, soft pinks.  A more practical, functional space that is beautiful and sensible.

The university enthusiastically supports this project and has worked with our committee to develop this plan. They join our efforts and will assume all costs for the demolition and removal, installation, electrical, plumbing, and paint. We are raising the monies needed for the kitchen cabinets, appliances, flooring, and new furnishings.

Next Step

Consider a donation, and/or a pledge. (A pledge just means you are donating over a period of time, and still counts toward our goal). We are inches from our goal. Nothing is too small. Any donation would be so very much appreciated.

Celebrate a sister’s big birthday with a donation in her name. Join with your pledge class to make a donation. Send love to your Big Sister with a contribution to honor her.
