Ah, 2005—a time when flip phones and ringtones ruled the world, MySpace dominated social connections, and the sound of Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani and Gold Digger by Kanye West blasted through our iPods while we lived young, wild, and free.
As we popped collars on our layered polos and sported low-rise jeans, there was no doubt that we were the trendiest generation the world has ever seen.
There was a different ringtone for every contact in our phone and the only thing harder than individually typing each letter in a text was remembering who's AIM name was "Sportyyyboiz" or "volleygirl87".
Facebook was just spreading its wings, but only for college kids, leaving the rest of us to carefully choose our Top 8's.
We watched in awe as YouTube launched, giving us viral classics like "Charlie bit my finger". The OC had us wrapped up in teenage angst while we threw around phrases like "that's hot!" and "fo' shizzle" to our friends.
It was a world of playful rebellion and carefree optimism. And for a brief moment in time, we, the Class of 2005, lived on top of the world.
