Clarke passed away of a heart attack, April 11, 1988 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Clarke married Keddie Burrows in February of 1971. He was seriously injured in a car accident outside of Carbondale in the summer of 1971. He suffered significant injuries that took a toll on his health from which he never really recovered. It was those health issues that put a strain on his heart resulting in a heart attack.
Clarke is survived by his children, Jason Clarke Rand and Tonya Joy Bernardy. He also has 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Clarke's father was involved in his children and grandchildren's lives until his death in 2018. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Rand .
