| Comment: | I spent my first 3 ½ years living on a farm with grandma, Lillian (Beatty) Larson, which was a half-mile from the Beatty farm. At the age of four I, along with my two younger siblings, was put into an orphanage in Duluth and later adopted. Book I in the series, My Brave Little Man, is about those years. |

| Comment: | My grandparents were Willis (Bill) and Cora Beatty. They lived in Cook. My mother was Cora Rae Beatty Hawkinson and my father Buck Hawkinson. My siblings Sally VanValkenberg, Jim Hawkinson and David Hawkinson & I were raised in Virginia Mn with summers at Lake 14. I have one son - Sam Gavin and two grandchildren who lives in Eden Prairie, Minn. My mother's sister was Mary Beatty Schmidt (Don). Their children (my first cousins) are Kerry Spears, Katherine Patrick, Kirk and Kyle Schmidt. They lived in Wyoming spent 6 summers in Cook in the 60s. Favorite memories are trips to Peterson's Landing, Timber Days, the sawdust pile, Ashwa Marine and movies at the Comet. Katherine & I worked outside Yellowstone National Park in 1970. Tom Savage lived with my grandparents for several years until high school graduation. He was like a brother to my mom and aunt. |
