Renea K. Purser Monroe, 54, of Austin passed away Monday, August 16, 2010. She was born October 18, 1955 in Austin to E. I. and Glad Purser of Austin. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Steve Bowman; her son, Greg Monroe; her daughter, Tiffany Monroe Jones; her mother, Glad Purser; a brother, Rod Purser; two grandchildren, Caitlin and Carter Jones. She attended McCallum High School and Austin Community College and worked for the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired as a supervisor for 10 years.

She loved animals and was a member of several rescue programs. The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and prayers of friends, church members and doctors through the years. The casket will lie in state from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., for a family gathering on Thursday, August 19, 2010, in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, Texas 78752. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park.
