Senior Gift

As a way of "giving back" to the school and supporting students who come behind them, seniors traditionally donate a gift to their alma mater before graduating. Not surprisingly, the MHS Class of '75 left a rather non-traditional senior gift (after all, we had already donated a Sophomore Bench for the courtyard)! However, repainting the city water tower was not really our choice, was it?

Fast forward to 2015, our class collected $2,600 to put toward a "proper" senior gift. The Reunion Committee contacted MHS to explore ideas and determine the best use of the funds. The Committee, based on the recommendation of MHS administrators, approved the following:

"Use the funds as seed money to establish a Plainsmen Legends and Legacies wall within the school to recognize MHS graduates for outstanding post-graduate contributions to society. Ongoing maintenance of the wall and future Plainsmen Legends and Legacies recognitions will be supported by tax-deductible donations through the Lubbock ISD Foundation for Excellence."

On Saturday morning of our 50th Reunion weekend, plans are to tour Monterey and present school administrators with the previously raised $2,600 gift plus any additional funds raised between now and then.
