Harry died of lung cancer.
Mike Wisniewski wrote: I remember when Harry first started at NA. There was somewhat of a commotion on all the ramps from a lot of the girls because of his “blue-Paul-Newman-bedroom eyes”! I certainly didn’t understand that & neither did any of the other guys! Harry made friends with Jay Possavino, Gary Diederich and Mike Johnstone and we soon all started hanging out on weekends. Those exploits would fill volumes-cars, concerts, ping pong, pool, parties at Pitt…and of course, talks about girls. Harry’s family was impressive. They had an old school southern charm that was so inviting. He was a natural philosopher who could reduce any topic or issue to its finest, simplest truth. That also included people. He had great insight into the human soul, and sometimes he would make a comment not ready to be heard. He was a loyal and trusted friend. And not because he had the best fake ID in high school. And not because he could write a note to get you out of class by forging Coach Cerny’s signature. (That worked until Mr. Cerny caught him). And not because he was a chic magnet who made it easier for his brothers. Harry attended John Carroll U in Cleveland. He returned to Pgh by transferring to Duquesne U, completing his undergrad degree. Afterwards, Harry worked for US Steel in Lorain, OH as Manager of the Pipe Mill Plant. He returned to his southern origins by moving his family to Alabama, continuing his work with USS. Harry died in Hoover, AL with his family present. He is survived by his wife and daughter, mother, sister Becky ’70, and brother Rich ’77.
