Richard "Dick" William Fabac

2016-12-21
Dick died at age 63 in Erie, PA of cancer. Mother Earth unexpectedly lost a best friend. Dick was relieved of his long-held duties of exceptional father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. Born in the Suburbs of Pittsburgh. In life, Richard wore many hats. Most of his professional career was spent as the Vice President of Sales of a family owned manufacturing company in Erie, Bu-Tech Pressure Systems. That opportunity gave him the ability to travel the world and gain a cultural perspective that would later become a footnote to a life spent helping people. More notably, Richard served humanity. He did so as a poet, a carpenter, an artist, a musician, a philosopher, a teacher…a friend. He graced our world with a smile. His laugh hugged you with sound that was more felt, than heard. He opened his home to those who needed it and would be the encouragement for them to be great. He brought out the best in people, while accepting the worst without judgment. Richard appreciated and sought the unique. He saw it in artists, such as Salvador Dali, and in musicians, such as Cat Stevens. More importantly, he found it within every person with whom he crossed paths. He found it within 88 piano keys. He found it on 4 down and 12 across, every morning. He found it in the woods. He found it in his children and loved ones; and he made sure we all could find it on any given evening, by stopping in for an unforgettable conversation, standing in a kitchen, under a dimly-lit, yellow light. Richard’s love is carried on by three sons, Seth Fabac, wife Stacy, of Erie, Nathan Fabac, wife Valerie, of Erie and Jared Fabac, wife Danielle, of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Angelina, Sage, Norah, Amaiya, Isabella and Zoe Fabac; a sister Val Brickner, husband Tim, of Madison, Wi.; a brother, Marty Fabac, wife Donna, of Ocean City, Md. He is also survived by his companion, Alicia Schott. He is also specially remembered through Judith Ward, mother of his 3 sons, as well as all those whom he has helped through life’s journey
