Her soft sense of humor made us laugh, which made the boring theorems much more fun. Dorcas had a unique phrase she used to say whenever we were given a long homework assignment. She would whisper "Curse the fate that made me a sea captain with a mutiny about to happen"! Even though it didn't make much sense, we always were reprimanded for laughing at her unusual statement. I also remember that Dorcas would help me understand the assignments and check my homework. She was brilliant and completed the class assignments so quickly that she helped us finish our work.
