Rex “Rick” Hecker, 63 of Mingo, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana.
Rick was born July 8, 1952 in Urbana, Ohio. He was a 1971 graduate of Urbana High School. He attended Quest Community Church in West Liberty. He was employed for many years by both Grimes Manufacturing and Trutec working as a machinist. Rick enjoyed fishing, nature, and had a passion for buying and selling books. He loved his family and will be missed by all.
Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Edna Christine (Bingham) Hecker; son, Phil (Amanda) Hecker; grandchildren, Kiara and Nate Hecker; two brothers, Mike (Lois) Hecker Jr. and Eric (Karen) Hecker; sisters, Cherie Black , Tina (Ron) Anderson , Betsy Siferd and Lisa (Jamie) Whitman in addition to several well-loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mryon D. and Barbara Jane (Huffman) Hecker Jr. and his son, Rex A. Hecker Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, 2015 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Bill Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM prior to the service. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the funeral home to help off-set funeral expenses.
