Roberta J. Owens (known as Bobbi Jo, Bert and Topaz) departed from this life on the evening of June 17, 2016, at the age of 63. She was born to the late Robert and Charlotte Simpson on December 14, 1952 in Urbana, Ohio. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters helped carry her through over 7 months of complications following surgery.
Before her illness, Roberta was a dedicated member of Restored Life Ministries. Family and friends were Roberta's passion and delight. She was known for her generosity and ease in frequent conversation even with total strangers. Her interests included arts and crafts, family gatherings, cooking, shopping, church fellowship and spending time with her grandkids.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joseph Johnson, Jr. (Tracey Goines) and Tera Owens (DaVon Brown); grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Jonea Johnson, DaVionna and Dakarai Brown; her loving brother, Gary Simpson; nephew, Steven Cosby; stepson, Michael Johnson; step grandson, DaVontae Brown; others who called her "granny" and will mourn her passing include, Julisa Goines, Donnie Willis, Jayuan Moss, T'ahna Stone; special friend, Adrienne Foster; special cousins, Lucretia Kemp and Apryl Morgan; special niece, Monya (Charlie) Thomas along with numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson, Justice Johnson.
