Obituary:
Chris passed away in March of 2018 from colon cancer. For those of us who knew Chris, we’d all agree - he lived his life with grace, kindness, compassion, and humor. To his final day, there was a twinkle in his eye, and he was quick to share a memory and a laugh.
Chris graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1991 with a BS Degree in Accounting and went on to join Arthur Andersen’s audit practice in New Jersey. From Andersen, Chris went on to Bed Bath & Beyond and eventually landed at Grant Thornton. Throughout his career, Chris frequently returned to Plattsburgh to recruit on campus, speak to accounting classes and mentor students looking for insights into career opportunities in accounting. Chris always made it a point to share his most important commodity - his time, with the Plattsburgh student body.
Chris’ legacy will live on through this Endowment Fund. Annually, students that have applied for financial assistance from the Fund will be reviewed and selected on the following criteria- their overall GPA, their interest in pursuing a career in accounting, and most importantly, their support of the on-campus accounting community. Chris would be proud that his name is associated with this Fund, and his legacy of support, connecting people, and encouragement continues…
