Cody was born on May 27, 1961 and died in Dallas on February 7, 1994 after a long and courageous struggle with AIDS. Ironically preceded in death by his best friend and caregiver Vonda Richards, Cody is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jimmie and Smokey Dunlap of Wichita Falls; father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Don Brewer of Burkburnett, Texas; brother Tommy Brewer and sister Cherry Jones of Wichita Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as his life partner, Robert Eason.

Cody held the title Mr. D/FW Metroplex and was a finalist in the Mr. Texas contest. He also appeared on the cover of TWT magazine in the early 1980s. His physical beauty was apparent to all who met him, but those privileged to know Cody personally knew that he was so much more than just another pretty face. His sincerity, inner beauty and compassion made Cody a true friend to so many, and he will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
