OBITUARY Saskatoon Star Phoenix - June 2, 2001:
CHUBAK Robert Donald, age 39, husband of Suzanne Chubak and son of Anne Chubak of Saskatoon, died suddenly on May 31, 2001.
He will be sorrowfully missed by his wife Suzanne; and children: Rob Jr. (currently serving as a missionary in San Diego, California), Ashley, Tobi, Logan, Dane, Arie, Sabrina, Joshua, and Jared; his mother Anne Chubak of Saskatoon; sisters: Kathie (Robert) Evans and family, Candi (Randy) Denk, and Brandi (Mark) Franklin; Dori (Jurgen) Lemke and family, Richard and Michael; Dale (Frank) Danek and her son James Brown; John (Melinda) Chubak and family, Coral, Jessamyn, and Kellen; Robin (Sheila) Chubak and family, Skyler, Austin, Teague, Michaylo, Trek, and Teal; Albert (Jennifer) Chubak and son AJ; mother and father-in-law Geraldine Darnel and Don McConnell.
Robbie was predeceased by his father John Chubak (1979); brother John Chubak (1957); nephews Adam Brown and "Jon Jon" Chubak; brother-in-law Herb McConnell; and grandparents John and Nellie Chubak, and Elko and Katie Stadnyk.
Rob was born December 27, 1961 in Saskatoon. He attended Westmount School and Bedford Road Collegiate. After his father died and while still going to high school, Rob continued his father's upholstery business to sustain the family.
On August 29, 1980 Suzanne McConnell and Rob were married. A large family followed, six sons and three daughters. Rob spent most of his working career at Canadian Regional Airlines both in Saskatoon and more recently in Calgary. Poor physical health forced him to find an alternate way to support his family, and he decided to go back to school - achieving high marks.
Rob's life centered around his family, and his love for hunting. He was an outdoors man in every way, enjoying nature to its fullest. There was also nothing that Robbie couldn't do with his hands, fixing anything, making anything, and this he did unselfishly for all those he knew. He was a man of many talents, but this most of all - he loved his family.
Rob's Funeral Service will take place on Monday June 4, 2001 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 95 Martindale Drive NE, Calgary with Bishop Mark Hinman officiating. Following the Service, Interment will take place at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, Calgary. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made in Rob's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 2nd Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta, T2G 1A2. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pierson's Funeral Service, Calgary Alberta (403) 235-3602.
