Heather Brittain

Heather Brittain

Heather passed away peacefully at RUH on June 21, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Heather was predeceased by her parents Garnet and Lillian Bowering, and her partner Earl Ryder.
She is survived by her son Keith Bowering and granddaughter Aurora; daughter Tanya (Gilles) Petite and grandchildren Alexis and Azarius; daughter Tamara Brittain; her three brothers, Garth (Jean) Bowering of Brandon, MB, Clinton (Dieder) and Doreen Bowering, Bruce and Les Bowering of Saskatoon; one sister Bonney (Bruce) Schwanbeck of Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. She will be missed by her special friends Ava Ewert, Dorothy Brotheridge and Gloria Jones.
Heather lived all her life in Saskatoon. She was employed at Vecima Networks for the past 15 years where she was a formidable presence. She often intimidated new people at work with her zany sense of humor (they later found out that she was a big teddy bear who would do anything for a friend). She made many life-long friends and leaves many co-workers to mourn her. One of her favorite pastimes was to heckle Vecima's president when he was speaking at company Christmas parties and meetings.
Heather's family and friends were the center of her life. She had so many acquaintances that no matter where we went in our travels, she would run into someone she knew. We will miss her quick smile and unending compassion. Even when she was so sick, she worried about everyone else. Heather's battle with cancer started 14 years ago and she put up a good fight. She was cancer free for 11 years and had a reoccurrence three years ago.
Her family would like to thank Home Care, the nurses who looked after her at the Cancer Clinic, and the Palliative Care Team for their support helping Heather with her battle. There will be a celebration of her life at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before rail crossing), on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
