It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Alexandra McCaul announce her passing on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Mary was 94 years of age and was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 2011 and her sister Dorothy Boyd.
Mary was survived by her four children, Joanne (Lyn) Bannister of Vernon, BC, Don (Diane) McCaul of Phoenix. Arizona, John McCaul of Saskatoon, SK and Cathy (David) Mack of Lethbridge, AB. Her sister Ruth Culham of Edmonton, AB. Ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.
Mary was born January 5, 1918 in Saskatoon, SK. She attended Caswell Public School and Bedford Road Collegiate where she was the Senior Pin her graduating year. She was an active member of St. Thomas Wesley United Church. She attended Saskatoon Business College and then went on to graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an English major. Post graduation she raised her family and then returned to the working world and taught high school at Nutana, Bedford Road and Mount Royal Collegiate. She was very involved with CGIT and various other church organizations and she was a life-long member of her St. Thomas Westley United Church Women's group the Deborah Unit. She enjoyed family camping and RV trips each summer traversing across Canada and the United States. Once retired, she and Gordon wintered in Mesa, Arizona for as long as their health permitted.
Mary wished to thank her many lifetime friends that brought such joy and purpose to her life. She was very appreciative of her son John that provided much loving care and assistance to her in her final years.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Saskatoon Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (244-5577).
