SMITH, Jack Lovel
Jack Lovel Smith, 85 years, of Saskatoon, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2018 after a lengthy illness.
Jack was born in Saskatoon to Lovel and Ethel Smith. He was younger brother to Eric. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years Roberta (Bobbie) née Hill. Also, Dad and Grandpa to Jan Murray (Bill), Alana (Kiril),Cal and Troy Murray. Terry Smith, Tyler, Kendyl, and Karly Smith. Kelly Bryden(Russ), Kyle and Ryan Bryden.
Jack attended Caswell Hill School and Bedford Road Collegiate. It was at Bedford where Jack met the love of his life Bobbie. To know Jack was to love him. His friendships lasted a lifetime, especially with the "Caswell Hill Boys".
Jack had many interests and talents. He was both an athlete and a musician. In his younger days he enjoyed hockey and football, having played with the Saskatoon Hilltops in 1951. Music was a lifelong love, playing sax and clarinet in many bands including the Hi-Lites, the RCAF 23 Wing Band and the Most Amazing Hobby Band.
Jack's career was mainly in sales with Sterling Distributors, A.A. Murphy and Sons and Colliers where clients and co-workers became valued friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, brother Eric, Bobbie's parents, sister-in-law Beverley Hill and Bobbie's step brothers.
He is also survived by niece Karen Lavertu and family, sister-in-law Sheila Smith, step sister-in-law Joyce Penner and Bobbie's cousins Doug Lee and Bill Lee and families.
Thank you to the wonderful medical and caregiving teams that supported Jack and family the last couple of years. (Nurse Next Door, Sask Health Authority and Daily Living). Jack loved his family and friends, the lake, music and the Roughriders. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of Jack's life will be planned at a future date.
