OLSON, Harold Douglas November 4, 1923 - June 17, 2016
It is with great sadness and love that we report the passing of Harold Olson of Calgary.
Harold, born in Saskatoon, attended Caswell Public School and Bedford Road Collegiate, and was a long-time resident of Montgomery Place prior to moving to Calgary. In 1942 Harold joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve and served the next 3 1/2 years assigned to the minesweeper "Mulgrave". He was recently awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal for his active part at Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Harold was pre-deceased by his 23 year old son Grant of Saskatoon, brothers Carrol, Lloyd, Earle, and sisters Almira, Eileen and Audrey.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Shelley (Fred) Williams, granddaughter Kayla (Ali) Elkadri, granddaughter Jessica Williams, sister Thelma Craver, sister-in-laws Phyllis Shockey and Eileen Olson, nieces and nephews.
In honor of his request there will be no funeral service. Burial will be in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery Saskatoon at a later date.
