1929-03-08 2019-08-13
LIPSETT, William "John" Johnston March 8, 1929 - August 13, 2019
John's family are announcing his passing in his 90th year.
John has lived a long life doing mostly what he enjoyed, until poor health put a stop to a lot of activities. He liked to build things and was the mastermind behind building two cottages at Candle Lake where he and Mary spent every summer weekend from June to October. He liked to water ski as well as downhill skiing in the mountains. It was a sad day when he realized that his skiing days were over. John was also a jogger and ran a 20 K marathon many years ago.
John attended Princess Alexandra elementary school, Bedford Road Collegiate and the University of Saskatchewan where he graduated with a Law Degree. He worked for many years at Co-operative Trust Company and at time of his retirement was the corporate secretary.
John is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Mary, his daughter Karen, his grandsons Cody and Jarrod, whom he loved and was very proud of. He is also survived by his sister Ruth and her son Brian, niece Maureen (Robert) and their children, nephew Joe, niece Barbara Arnold, niece Linda (Ian) and their children, niece Kim (Bob) and their children as well as all other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Maud and Thomas, sister Molly and her husband Stan. Brother Robert (Bob) and his wife Larre, sister Florence and her husband Harold and brother-in-law Gary Miller.
John has requested a short, simple private funeral to be held and we are respecting his wishes. The funeral for John was held at Park Funeral Home, Saskatoon on Sunday August 18, 2019 with most of his loving family in attendance. The interment of cremated remains will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. To share condolences and memories, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries-Guestbook". Arrangements entrusted to Derryl Hildebrandt, Park Funeral Home, 306-244-2103.
