Emily Norma Boehr passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at St. Pauls Palliative Care. She had heart problems for a number of years including open heart surgery in Edmonton in 2015.
Emily was born on May 29, 1953, the youngest of 5 children born to Isaac and Agnes (Doerksen) Boehr. She was predeceased by her parents. Emily is survived by her siblings Verna (Cecil) Wasmuth, Elmer Boehr, Larry (Sandra) Boehr and Wayne Boehr. Nephews Clint (Natalie) Wasmuth, Calvin (Andrea) Wasmuth, Randy (Mel) Wasmuth, Mike (Robbin) Boehr and one niece Jenn Boehr plus great-nephews and nieces.
Emily attended Westmount school in grade one and then Henry Kelsey and Bedford Road. Out of high school, Emily worked at McLeods on 3rd Avenue. In 1975 Emily started at Midtown Plaza parking lot working there for many years. In 1981 she also started working evenings at Prairieland Park as a pari-mutuel operator at Marquis Downs racetrack and when the parking lot went private became full time at Prairieland Park Sports on Tap horse racing room till ill health prevented her from working.
Emily enjoyed travelling and taking bus trips and two cruises to Alaska. During the 70s and 80s, Emily bowled and was league secretary for a number of years.
We want to thank all of the staff at RUH 6200 cardiac ward and St. Pauls Palliative Care staff for their caring and compassionate treatment of Emily during her stay at both locations. Funeral will be at First Mennonite Church, 418 Queen Street, Saskatoon SK, on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch to follow service and then interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Stefan Funk at Dalmeny Funeral Home (306-254-2022 www.dalmenyfuneralhome.ca).
